Personality

On the outside, Fernstar looks like a brilliant leader. She’s calm, level headed and is great at talking cats down from ripping each others’ throats out, traits that have been demonstrated again and again in the moons she’s been GoopClan’s leader. Unfortunately, this calmness is just a mask. In reality, she is frantically flapping just on the edge of everything falling apart, despite the fact that the only issue is the dawn patrol left just a tiny bit late. The contrast between her exterior personality and interior thoughts and emotions is like a graceful swan. Above water it glides through effortlessly while beneath the surface, its legs paddle away keeping the whole bird afloat.

The only time this terrified screaming comes to the surface is when one cat makes so many simple, stupid mistakes in a short amount of time  and she snaps from the calm front to ‘get your brain in working order or I swear to the Chaos I will snap your neck’ in five seconds flat. This small instance is then buried back beneath the surface, never to be mentioned by Fernstar again.

Another small problem that arose as Fernstar advanced into the coveted deputy position is that she is absolutely terrible with names. Many of the cats in GoopClan were only referred to as vague descriptions who no one but Fernstar herself could understand before she was promoted as she had little need to learn names. Her promotion included a very crashy crash course in what everyone’s name was and, despite it taking more than a moon, Fernstar eventually got it. Unfortunately, new cats to the clan have to go through the same process everyone else had to as she tries to attach the name to the cat. Names with Fernstar are quite similar to pin the tail on the donkey but there are five hundred similar looking donkeys and everyone will think you’re an idiot if you get it wrong.

Fernstar is also extremely goal oriented, if you could call it that. She will do everything in her power, no matter the detriment to herself or those around her, to make sure the desirable result is achieved. She broke so many relationships in her bid to become deputy, most of which were never really repaired. Her mind becomes focused with this one task and she pushes ahead with the plan she is absolutely sure will work, whether or not it’s the easiest or most efficient.
